Technical Support Chemist Jobs, Applications Specialist Jobs.  Zest Scientific recruitment is seeking a Bilingual (French / English) Chemist for an Applications Scientist / Technical Support job in the Analytical Chemistry field.  Our client is a leading provider of high end analytical instrumentation and has a requirement within the European Technical Support team for an experienced Chemist with specific experience of GC and GC/MS to deliver Technical Support to customers across the UK and France with some responsibility for Belgium and Switzerland.

The Applications Scientist job will require strong technical skills combined with effective communication / problem solving skills as the Applications Scientist will respond to customer enquiries in a variety of ways, conducting remote sessions and through direct customer visits.  Primarily responsible for providing responsive telephone support and diagnostics as well as on-site services.  There is some flexibility in reference to candidate location as the role will be 50% home office based, 50% visiting customers and liaising with Service Engineers at head office.  UK based candidates will be ideally located in either Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire or Greater London as there will be a requirement to access Demonstration instrumentation.  We are also receptive to receiving applications from candidates located in France providing they demonstrate strong English language skills.

The ideal candidate will have a Chemistry background combined with previous Technical Support / Applications Scientist experience in the Analytical Instrumentation field.  We will also consider applications from candidates with previous experience servicing similar equipment.  Due to the nature of the role, proficiency in English and French is essential; however, my client does not want to rule out candidates who offer alternative language skills (Spanish / German).  Combined with the requisite technical knowledge in GC and GC/MS, it is important that candidates have good verbal and written communication skills coupled with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and identify solutions.  In addition, candidates must demonstrate a willingness to travel through Europe.
